Sumo, on heels of February sellout, to make return visit to Pru Center on Aug. 8

The International Sumo League wowed a sold-out crowd when it came to the Prudential Center in February. That’s why it will be making a quick return.

On Monday, the Pru Center announced World Championship Sumo will return Aug. 8.

Billed as “The Biggest Show on Earth,” the event is part of the ISL’s 2024 Summer of Sumo series. The ISL previously showcased at Prudential back in February, boasting a sellout crowd of more than 5,000 fans.

Dylan Wanagiel, vice president of special events at Prudential Center, was thrilled that sumo was returning.

“As the Rock continues to establish itself as a mandatory destination for marquee sporting events, we look forward to International Sumo League delivering another electric and unforgettable night to our passionate audience in New Jersey,” he said.

ISL President Noah Goldman similarly shared optimism of hosting the event in Newark.

“The Rock has been a great partner of World Championship Sumo,” he said. “Its location in Newark makes it a convenient destination for ISL fans throughout the entire tri-state area. We continue to grow and evolve our sport and I am excited and thrilled to bring our world-class athletes back to Prudential Center on Aug. 8.”
