In a continuing effort to increase its connection to the business community, New Jersey Institute of Technology and New Jersey Innovation Institute recently announced the establishment of an Office of Corporate Engagement.
The office, which aims to serve as the central platform for managing and nurturing the respective corporate relationships of NJIT and NJII, will be run by Executive Director Vincent Lombardo.
The Newark-based university hopes it will enhance the university’s interactions with corporate leaders and industry partners, building a more cohesive approach across all areas of NJIT. It will work closely with the offices of career development services, development and alumni relations and sponsored research, as well as NJIT’s individual colleges and the Learning and Development Initiative of NJIT and NJII.
NJIT President Teik Lim explained the thought process.
“As we work to make NJIT an innovation nexus through our 2030 strategic plan, a critical component of our strategy is continuing to build strong corporate partnerships throughout New Jersey and beyond,” he said. “The launch of the Office of Corporate Engagement will enable NJIT and NJII to more seamlessly interact with corporations and to better develop substantive partnerships across all aspects of the university.”
Lim said Lombardo will work to contribute in developing and enhancing partnerships with industry that strengthen the university and benefit the respective students and faculty.
