Mark Deuer has been hired to serve as construction manager and director of security at Clifton-based Value Cos. In this role, he will lead the team responsible for new development projects in Value Cos.’ portfolio and will also oversee the safety of Value Cos.’ employees and residents.
Before joining Value Cos., Deuer retired from the North Caldwell Police Department, where he served as chief for the last 13 years of his 30-year law enforcement career. In that role, Deuer planned, coordinated and directed the activities of the police department, managed resources and established departmental goals and objectives while delivering efficient and effective public safety services to the community.
“When we saw Mark’s unique skill set as both an organizational leader and an expert in law enforcement, we knew he’d be a great fit for our team. Mark understands how to run a project effectively. He’s already bringing new ideas to the job,” Value Cos. Executive Vice President Matthew Mirman said. “His experience in law enforcement will allow us to continue to make our properties a safe and wonderful place to live and raise a family. We’re so honored when people choose to live at a Value Cos. property, and Mark’s passion to serve the community around him will help ensure our properties deliver to the needs of our residents.”
During his career in law enforcement, Deuer responded to, and assisted in rescue efforts after both the 9/11 World Trade Center attack and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
