Construction management firm Community Builders NJ celebrates launch with strong foundation of support

Community Builders NJ Inc., a Morristown-based construction management firm, celebrated its official launch at the Columbus Club off Morristown’s Green last week. The crowd included commercial real estate leaders from SJP Properties, Vision Real Estate, Cushman & Wakefield, JLL, Chilmark Real Estate Services, Hekemian, Gensler, Lincoln Property, Kimmerle Group, NK Architects and HDR.

Co-hosts Frank Vitolo of Sills Cummis & Gross, Nancy Dougherty of Studio 1200, Roger Jones of Valley Bank, Brad Bohler of Bohler Engineering and Nick Kraus of Kraus Marketing also helped ring in the launch of the firm.

The evening commenced with Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-Chester) presenting a joint resolution on behalf of both herself and Sen. Anthony Bucco (R-Denville). U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-11th Dist.) was represented by a Chris Williams, who presented another resolution on behalf of Congress. Morris County Commissioner Stephen Shaw was also in attendance.

Community Builders Partner and Construction Manager Niko Spasov presented Florham Park-based nonprofit Cheshire Home with the award of pro bono construction management services for the transformation of a portion of Cheshire’s Florham Park facility into a vocational rehabilitation training center for clients recovering from and adapting to recent spinal cord injuries.

“The vocation space is a place where our residents gather to build friendships, grow their personal skills and learn new ones, improve their communication and so much more. It is an incredible undertaking for Cheshire. We are beyond grateful to work with Community Builders,” Kim Eskin, director of development for Cheshire Home, said.

Stuart Johnson, principal at Minno & Wasko Architects & Planners, added: “The vibe was electric. Their values aren’t corporate buzzwords. Community Builders is currently managing the renovation and fitout of M&W’s corporate office in Lambertville. I can tell you firsthand they live and uphold their values to the highest degree. They are building something special, and it is neat to be a part of it.”

“Community Builders sees the forest and the trees. They are equal parts adept in the tactical and the strategic as it relates to bringing a building out of the ground from approvals through to certificate of occupancy. They think wholly, collaborate and act decisively in the project’s best interest. It’s really refreshing to see in the industry,” Vitolo said.

The evening was capped with a presentation of a stock certificate for shares of Community Builders stock to Spasov. He was recently awarded the 30 Under 30 distinction from Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal for his “American dream” journey, having emigrated from Macedonia when he was 13 and put himself through college in the evenings while working as a laborer in the city to support his family.

Conor Evans, founder and president of Community Builders, shared the following: “After 22 years in both operations and strategy roles for large general contractors, I came to a point where I wanted to build something that had a greater chance of outlasting buildings — something to stand the test of time. In a world often marked by destruction, our aspiration is to build together, operating based on our core values, to shape our community’s wellbeing and to create something impactful for generations to come.”
