Porzio, Bromberg & Newman adds principal to lead emerging technology practice expansion

Jill Williamson has joined the Morristown-based law firm Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. as a principal to spearhead the development of an emerging technology practice, according to a Monday announcement.

Building upon the firm’s strong foundation across practice groups, this strategic investment marks a significant expansion into a new practice area.

Williamson brings over 20 years of experience in advising and representing entrepreneurs and leaders of established businesses to maximize shareholder value growth while minimizing legal risks. With a robust background in legal counsel and compliance, Williamson has been instrumental in providing strategic guidance to several emerging technology companies, including blockchain and cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence and esports. Her practice spans a wide array of complex legal matters, including internal investigations, defense against government inquiries and compliance advice in critical areas such as anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, export compliance, sanctions, data privacy and risk management.

Williamson’s proficiency extends to blockchain technology and global cryptocurrency laws, where she ensures clients navigate regulatory landscapes effectively. Having worked with Web3 companies since 2017, she brings her deep experience and training to navigate this emerging sector effectively.

“We are proud to welcome Jill Williamson to our team,” Vito A. Gagliardi Jr., managing principal of Porzio, said. “Her diverse background, deep experience in compliance and litigation and unwavering commitment to service align perfectly with our firm’s values and mission. As we invest in a new emerging technology practice area, Jill’s leadership will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.”

Before joining Porzio, Williamson held esteemed compliance roles in Fortune 100 and midsized global corporations. Her legal career began in Washington, D.C., where she defended clients in high-stakes global government investigations and provided comprehensive compliance counseling and interventions.
