Private-sector employment rose in June; however, although solid, job growth has not been broad-based. Employment rose by 150,000 jobs last month and annual pay was up 4.9%, according to the most recent ADP National Employment Report, released Wednesday.

“Had it not been for a rebound in hiring in leisure and hospitality, June would have been a downbeat month,” Nela Richardson, chief economist, ADP, said.

When looking at where the jobs surfaced, the service-providing sector saw the biggest increases. Leisure/hospitality added 63,000 jobs, Professional/business services increased by 25,000 positions, and Trade/transportation/utilities rose by 15,000 spots.

Medium sized establishments, those with 50-499 employees, experienced the largest bump in additions, with 88,000 jobs added.
