Schenck, Price, Smith & King announces new managing partner

Florham Park-based Schenck, Price, Smith & King LLP named John Ursin as its new managing partner, effective June 17.

For more than 30 years, Ursin has utilized his extensive expertise in a wide range of legal specialties to provide valuable and efficient representation as general counsel to closely-held companies, private equity, syndicated real estate entities, family offices, insurance companies, government entities and nonprofit organizations. His clients include real estate developers, health care providers and senior living facilities, manufacturers, material suppliers, sports-related businesses and insurance companies.

“I am extremely honored to have the confidence of my partners to lead the firm forward. SPSK is a special law firm. It is well known that it is one of the oldest law firms, and it appears prominently on the list of the largest law firms in New Jersey. However, it is the firm’s culture that sets it apart. It is simply a great place to practice law. While providing the highest level of professional legal services, the firm has maintained its civility, democratic structure and focus on service to the community. It is a true meritocracy. I arrived as a lateral 12 years ago and was given the opportunity to grow my practice. My hard work was recognized and resulted in this great honor,” Ursin said.

Ursin is only the firm’s fourth managing partner in the last 40 years.

Gary Werner served as the firm’s managing partner for the last eight years and will continue to be involved in planning and recruiting.

“With 112 years of continuity, Schenck Price is once again transitioning to a new leadership team. The recent addition of experienced lawyers into several of the firm’s practice areas as well as the completion of IT upgrades and the renovation of our main office in Florham Park have positioned Schenck Price for the future,” Werner said.
