RWJUH Rahway CEO to retire at year-end after 30 years in charge

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway CEO and President Kirk Tice is retiring at the end of the year, he announced Thursday.

The executive has spent 46 years with the RWJBarnabas Health facility, including the past 30 as CEO and president. His retirement is effective Dec. 31.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Kirk Tice for his dedication, service and leadership over the last four-plus decades at RWJUH Rahway,” Mark Manigan, CEO and president of RJWBarnabas Health, said in a prepared statement. “Kirk has navigated the ever-changing health care landscape of New Jersey for half a century, all while keeping with his vision of putting patients first.

“He will be remembered for his legacy of commitment to better serve the residents of Union County.”

Under Tice’s leadership, RWJUH Rahway has earned honors such as six consecutive “A” grades in safety from the Leapfrog Group; full accreditation from the Joint Commission; Most Wired recognition from the College of Health Care Information Management Executives; and more.

“I have had the honor and privilege over the last 30 years of leading an exceptional team at RWJUH Rahway,” he said in a statement. “I’d especially like to thank the hospital and medical staff for their many years of support, as we navigated the facility through many changes. I am truly fortunate to have worked beside so many professionals who care deeply for the patients and communities we serve.

“RWJUH Rahway will forever be in my blood, and I wish them continued success.”
