Trinitas Regional Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, has relocated its New Point Renal Dialysis Center to the new Medical Arts Building, Suite 210, located at 200 Williamson St. in Elizabeth.
The new facility will be a space where dialysis and hemodialysis patients can visit for state-of-the-art treatments in the 8,500-square-foot center, which is equipped with 19 stations to accommodate 108 patients, including those transported by stretcher. Each station offers a recliner with heat and massage features, a 40-inch TV to watch during treatment, and a “T” BlueStar Fresenius hemodialysis machine, as well as one with an Isolation machine.
“This has been such a long time coming and we are thrilled to be able to welcome patients into our brand new, state-of-the-art facility where they will receive the best care possible,” nurse Ruby Codjoe, renal director, said.
Under the direction of Dr. James McAnally, physicians and staff offer years of experience and an array of programs for patients diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
“Early diagnosis and intervention are the key to a higher quality of life,” McAnally said. He encourages those diagnosed with kidney disease to enter Trinitas’ THRIVE program. The goal of the THRIVE, “The High Risk-Intervention Via Education,” program is not only to slow the progression of kidney disease, but also to educate patients on treatment options, to improve compliance and outcomes and to help them adjust to dialysis.
Trinitas also provides treatment and support for those with end-stage renal disease. This is a condition in which the kidneys no longer function normally. In cases like this, patients may require hemodialysis, a procedure where an artificial kidney is used to remove waste and fluid from the body. Or patients may require peritoneal dialysis. In this type of dialysis, a patient’s blood is cleansed inside his/her body using the natural membrane in the abdomen as a filter.
People at high risk for renal — also known as kidney — disease include those with diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension) and family history of kidney disease. To better serve patients, Trinitas provides dialysis services in Elizabeth, Cranford and Linden.
