South Jersey Transportation Authority announces grand opening of new E-ZPass Customer Care Center

South Jersey Transportation Authority recently announced the grand opening of its new, walk-up E-ZPass Customer Care Center. This center will serve as a dedicated hub for drivers looking to effortlessly manage and maximize their E-ZPass experience on the Atlantic City Expressway as well as assist E-ZPass customers in the southern part of the state.

Since 1987, the E-ZPass system has revolutionized travel convenience by allowing drivers to seamlessly navigate toll roads without the need to stop and pay cash.

E-ZPass is an electronic toll collection system, which takes cash, coins, and toll tickets out of the toll collection process. Instead, drivers can establish an account, prepay tolls, and attach a small electronic device, called a tag or a transponder, to their vehicles. Tolls are then automatically calculated and deducted from a prepaid account as the E-ZPass customer passes through the toll lanes.

“I began my career as a toll collector for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority where I learned the importance of customer service. As part of the team that created E-ZPass, we were determined to improve the customer experience by creating a safer, more convenient toll collection method,” NJDOT Commissioner Fran O’Connor said. “The new SJTA E-ZPass Customer Care Center enhances customer service by providing face-to-face assistance for E-ZPass customers at a convenient location right off the Atlantic City Expressway.”

The center will offer a comprehensive range of services, including:

Opening new E-ZPass accounts
Taking cash payments for missed tolls on the Atlantic City Expressway
Resolving violations
Account management and updates
Billing inquiries and support
Technical assistance for E-ZPass devices

“Our new E-ZPass Customer Care Center marks a significant milestone in our dedication to enhancing customer service as we transition to All-Electronic Tolling (AET) in 2025,” Stephen Dougherty, SJTA executive director, said. “We understand the importance of ease-of-use and convenience for our patrons, and this center reinforces our commitment to delivering exceptional service at every touchpoint.”

The Customer Care Center is located inside the Farley Service Plaza, milepost 21.3, and will operate on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday – Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
