TD Bank on Tuesday named Chris Ward its regional president of the Mid-South Metro, where he will head the Cherry Hill-headquartered financial institution’s consumer and commercial services for the region that includes Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Ward will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will lead more than 4,000 regionally-based employees and a network of 135 stores.
“The population expansion in the Mid-South brings with it an opportunity to connect with new prospects and existing TD Bank customers who are familiar with the brand,” Matt Boss, head of consumer banking, said. “Chris’ familiarity with the market is a great asset for TD as we as we look to build upon our recent retail expansion in the Charlotte metro area and expand our market share across the region.”
Ward has more than 30 years’ experience in retail banking, commercial lending, consumer and home equity lending, regional banking and credit. Most recently, he served as the small business credit executive at Bank of America. His extensive banking career also includes roles at Citizens Financial Group, BBVA Group and the former First Union National Bank of Florida.
“Chris has a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing local businesses and how to help them fund their ambitions,” Chris Giamo, head of commercial banking, TD Bank, said. “This knowledge can further enhance our teams’ abilities to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes across the region.”
