Event will bring together procurement specialists from public and private sectors to meet with veteran-owned and -operated businesses

Military veterans looking to grow their businesses can learn how to better compete for lucrative government and private sector contracts at the 3rd annual Veterans Business Summit from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Conference Center at Mercer in West Windsor.

The summit will feature:

  • State lawmakers discussing legislation that best supports the veteran community.
  • Veteran business owners who will share how they became successful in winning public- and private-sector contracts.
  • Small business liaisons from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst discussing upcoming opportunities.

Also on hand will be representatives from:

  • Federal, state and county governments, to discuss the most effective strategies for responding to contracting opportunities.
  • Major industries such as health care, pharmaceuticals, offshore wind and utilities, to discuss private-sector opportunities.
  • Procurement and supplier diversity agencies, to discuss how your business can become an approved vendor.
  • Department of the Treasury, to help you register or certify your business and get you signed up for NJStart, the state’s procurement portal.

Breakout sessions across the day will provide greater depth on critical topics, including certifications, legal considerations, best marketing practices, navigating contracting opportunities and more.

There also will be representatives from supplier diversity and procurement agencies, so veteran business owners can have one-on-one discussions about potential contracts.
