Two new Mercer County drivers have graduated with their commercial driver’s license, thanks to a partnership between the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and the Driving Academy in Jackson.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for both the graduates and the AACCNJ’s Training and Development Institute.
Willie Green is one of six TDI graduates from the Driving Academy, a program that underscores AACCNJ’s commitment to empowering individuals through education and skill development.
By supporting socially and economically disenfranchised individuals to enter and excel in the transportation industry, AACCNJ said it is fostering an environment of inclusivity and economic growth.
“The AACCNJ continues in its commitment to building ‘People, Partnerships and Policy’ that have the potential for impacting our communities locally, statewide and nationally. We are invested in creating opportunities that lead to sustainable economic growth and empowerment,” Vivian Harmon, senior director of AACCNJ’s TDI, said. “Graduates like Willie Green inspire us to keep pushing forward, knowing that every success story strengthens our mission.”
Green is a standout graduate. He initially enrolled in the CDL program early this year. Despite facing challenging circumstances that led him to temporarily withdraw from the program, Green returned in April, determined to complete his training. His commitment to obtaining his CDL license and aspiring to become an owner-operator of his own company exemplifies the spirit of resilience and entrepreneurship.
