Forbes on Tuesday released its America’s Best-in-State Employers 2024 list, and 19 companies from New Jersey made the Top 50.
The survey, according to Forbes, measures leading companies from around the world to identify those best-liked by employees.
Virtua (No. 44) has made the Forbes list annually since its inception six years ago. The not-for-profit health system in Marlton also was named last year to Modern Healthcare’s national “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” list.
“Virtua has a longstanding commitment to fostering a caring culture, which extends from how we treat each patient to how we treat fellow staff members,” Rhonda Jordan, executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Virtua, said.
For the second straight year, New Jersey Transit (No. 23 overall) ranked No. 1 in the Transportation and Logistics category. This marks the fourth time that NJ Transit has been recognized as one of New Jersey’s best places to work.
“Being named a top employer in New Jersey for the fourth consecutive year is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our entire NJ Transit team,” NJ Transit CEO & President Kevin Corbett said. “We are proud to be an employer of choice in New Jersey, and remain committed to maintaining a supportive and inclusive work environment that empowers our employees to deliver the highest standard of service to our customers.”

2024 marks the sixth time the list has been published. It was created in partnership with market research firm Statista to anonymously survey over 160,000 full and part-time workers at companies across the United States with more than 500 employees.
Forbes and Statista said the evaluations were made on a state-by-state basis. Participants were asked to identify employers both in their state and nationally that stand out, either positively or negatively. They also were asked to rate their own employers and provide feedback on work conditions, diversity, salary, potential for development and the like.
