Mike DuHaime, CEO of MAD Global Strategy, a leading bipartisan public affairs firm, was appointed to the Hackensack Meridian Carrier Behavioral Health board of trustees, the organizations announced Tuesday.
Carrier Clinic, a renowned nonprofit behavioral health care provider in Belle Mead, specializes in inpatient psychiatric treatment, as well as treatment and rehabilitation for substance use disorders.
Hackensack Meridian Health broke ground on Carrier Clinic’s $40 million, 43,000-square-foot modernization project earlier this year. The project will include 52 inpatient rooms for youths, a family resource and support center, innovative treatment models such as multisensory rooms, and an academic teaching center and medical staff suite to expand the capacity to teach physicians and other mental health professionals.
The enhancement will allow Carrier Clinic to help even more young people by lowering the age of patients it serves to 7, from the current minimum of 12.
Kenny Esser, executive vice president, behavioral health, at HMH, welcomed DuHaime.
“Hackensack Meridian Carrier Clinic is grateful to have leaders on our board like Mike DuHaime who share a passion for helping strengthen our communities,” he said. “His unique understanding of health care in New Jersey as well as the needs of residents will be invaluable to advancing Carrier Clinic’s mission to expand behavioral health services and enhance the quality of care for patients.”
DuHaime said he’s eager to help.
“I’m honored to join the board of trustees, and I look forward to collaborating with this world-class team to expand the impact and reach of their behavioral health services,” he said. “The care Carrier Clinic provides is vital to those facing mental health and addiction challenges, and I’m inspired by Hackensack Meridian Health’s commitment to saving and transforming the lives of so many patients and their families.”
In addition to DuHaime’s role at MAD Global, he serves on the board of trustees at Rutgers University and president of the nonprofit Cranford Hockey Club.
