Pecola King named new director of revenue cycle management at Hopeworks

Hopeworks on Wednesday said it appointed Pecola King as its new director of revenue cycle management. An accomplished leader in the field, King brings years of experience in billing, collections, denials management and process automation, as well as a proven track record of exceptional achievements, to the Camden-based nonprofit.

Revenue cycle management is Hopeworks’ newest enterprise, which will join Hopeworks’ existing businesses, including geographic information systems, web design and trauma-informed counseling services. Revenue cycle management is a critical piece of medical coding and refers to the financial process that health care facilities use to manage the administrative and clinical functions associated with claims processing, payment and revenue generation. It encompasses all the steps taken by health care providers to ensure they receive payment for services rendered to patients.

King most recently served as the director of revenue cycle at Partners Pharmacy in Springfield, where she spearheaded initiatives that led to a staggering 101% increase in cash collections within just six months and a 65% reduction in backlog within the first quarter. Her role encompassed managing billing operations across multiple states, overseeing significant revenue streams and deploying advanced technological solutions to enhance process accuracy and efficiency — skills that will be instrumental in advancing Hopeworks’ goals.

“I am thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with Hopeworks,” King said. “The organization’s steadfast dedication to creating meaningful difference in the Camden and Philadelphia communities deeply resonates with me. I look forward to leveraging my extensive experience to contribute to Hopeworks’ continued success and support its mission of transforming young lives through innovative career development opportunities.”

Prior to her tenure at Partners Pharmacy, King excelled as the revenue cycle manager at Golden Living in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where she managed billing and collections across 70 facilities, navigating complex financial landscapes with strategic initiatives that markedly improved revenue performance and operational integration.
