Museum tells stories of everyday Jerseyans who solved problems on battlefield (PHOTOS)

Comfortably situated on Camp Drive next to the New Jersey State Police Academy in Sea Girt is the National Guard Militia Museum of New Jersey. It tells the story of New Jersey’s militia and National Guard from before the American Revolution through present day.

This well-maintained and kid-friendly museum is not so much about dates, places and times as it is about the people who served and their stories.

Admission to the museum is free and it is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Tours are available and the museum offers customized tours for scouts, veterans groups, senior high schools, historical societies and youth camps.

There is a companion museum at the Lawrenceville Armory in Lawrenceville.
