Amy Shotmeyer Porter, a seasoned litigator and legal adviser, has been named in-house legal counsel at Christian Health, CEO Doug Struyk announced Wednesday.
Shotmeyer, who comes to Christian Health from Paramus-based law firm DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole & Giblin, brings 15-plus years of experience in affordable housing, risk management, employment law and contract review to the newly created role at the nonprofit health care organization.
In her new role, Shotmeyer Porter will lead Christian Health’s legal services, serve as risk manager, and collaborate with various department heads to oversee regulatory and contractual compliance, resident and patient safety, emergency management and quality assurance.
Struyk applauded the announcement.
“As our organization continues to grow and expand to meet the needs of our community, Amy’s background and expertise will be invaluable,” he said. “We are confident that the knowledge and respect that she gained from her years of leadership and advocacy on behalf of Christian Health will enable her to hit the ground running.”
Shotmeyer Porter has been involved with Christian Health since 2016 and served as vice chair on the Christian Health Foundation board of trustees, and as an executive committee member and assistant secretary on the Christian Health board of trustees. She has resigned from those roles to accept the position of in-house legal counsel.
“Joining the dedicated team at Christian Health is an incredible opportunity,” she said. “I look forward to contributing to the organization’s mission of providing compassionate and high-quality care and ensuring that our operations meet the highest legal standards. Together, we will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.”
Shotmeyer Porter has been annually honored as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers.
A resident of Franklin Lakes, she received a Bachelor of Arts in environmental sciences from Lehigh University and a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law.
