Invest Newark on Thursday named Therone Hopkins as its new chief lending officer. With 17 years of banking experience, Hopkins is a valuable addition to the Invest Newark team, where he will focus on supporting businesses in accessing capital.
Hopkins is a proud 15-year resident of Newark and a former small business owner. His most recent role was vice president of commercial banking at Columbia Bank, where he successfully closed nearly $60 million in commercial and real estate lending within the New Jersey and New York markets.
“I am honored to join an organization that plays a powerful role in the lives of business owners, developers and budding entrepreneurs within the city of Newark. I’m excited to bring my passion for credit and capital deployment to Invest Newark to further expand the organization’s mission of providing equitable resources to those in need,” Hopkins said.
“We’re excited to welcome Therone Hopkins to the team. His experience is a valuable addition to Invest Newark and will help drive our mission forward. We’re confident that his expertise will support our efforts to provide local businesses with the capital they need to thrive,” Marcus Randolph, CEO and president of Invest Newark, said.
