Baker Street Health in Motion, a podiatry practice now accepting new patients for all facets of podiatric care, has opened in Fair Lawn. Headed by Dr. Adenike Sonaike, the practice is the latest health offering from Baker Street Health, a North Jersey-based company.
Sonaike is driven by her own experiences with pediatric foot issues and her passion for individualized patient care. Under her direction, Baker Street Health in Motion offers a distinctive approach to foot and ankle care with a strong emphasis on personalized and preventive treatment.
“I believe in treating every patient as an individual, not a template,” Sonaike said. “My goal is to address not only foot and ankle issues, but also to provide a full evaluation of how these issues may impact other parts of the body, including the back, hips and knees.”
In addition to treating existing conditions, Baker Street Health in Motion will focus on preventive care. This includes:
- Managing diabetic patients to treat and detect any evidence of nerve damage or poor circulation
- Ensuring that children meet developmental milestones as they grow
- Collaborating with occupational therapists at Baker Street Health to assist patients and help them meet their maximum potential
Children enrolled in occupational therapy commonly experience foot and ankle difficulties that require a podiatrist. These include gait problems such as toe walking, reluctance to stand, walk or run, balance difficulties, flat feet and sensation issues. Baker Street Health in Motion can help by providing treatments like custom orthotics and braces to improve walking, running, and playing.
The practice will also provide comprehensive patient education, especially for athletes and active individuals that will allow them to maintain optimal foot health and prevent injuries.
“Foot pain is often ignored until it becomes severe, but many issues can be prevented with the right knowledge and care,” Sonaike said.
Additionally, the practice offers innovative treatments such as shockwave therapy for chronic tendonitis and plantar fasciitis, fat pad injections to alleviate pain and support long-term work, and protein-rich plasma or amniotic injections to accelerate recovery from tendon and ligament injuries. Sonaike will introduce taping techniques that can provide immediate relief without invasive procedures.
