Academy Orthopedics expands into Essex County; adds two new offices

Academy Orthopedics, a division of OrthoEast, a world class team of orthopedic physicians specializing in trauma, reconstruction and sports medicine, is expanding into Essex County with the addition of two new office locations in Montclair/Glen Ridge and West Orange.

Expected to open in September, the new Academy Orthopedic offices will complement three existing locations in Wayne, Morristown and Clifton.

Heading the new office locations will be Dr. Peter Goljan, a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon and the official team physician for William Paterson University.

Prior to joining Academy Orthopedics, Goljan served as a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at a Union County-based orthopedic practice. Goljan’s expertise spans both nonoperative and operative sports medicine, encompassing cutting-edge surgical techniques for injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. He is committed to developing personalized treatment plans that cater to each patient’s unique needs.

Goljan completed his orthopedic residency at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center/Seton Hall University in Paterson, where he was honored with the role of chief resident in his final year.

Following residency, Goljan chose to pursue a year of additional specialty training in sports medicine, and spent one year honing his skills in both nonoperative and operative sports medicine at Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine, California. While there, he assisted in game, office and surgical care of several professional athletes. Specifically, his duties included sideline and training room coverage of the Los Angeles Chargers football team as well as the University of California, Irvine, athletics and many local Orange County high school teams.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Goljan to our team and expand our footprint into Essex County, offering top-tier specialized care to a broader community,” Dr. Anthony Scillia, sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at Academy Orthopedics, said. “Dr. Goljan’s expertise and dedication to personalized patient care align perfectly with our mission to provide the best orthopedic services in the region.”

As the trusted team physicians for Seton Hall, William Paterson and Montclair State universities, Academy Orthopedics’ physicians serve patients ranging from pediatrics to seniors, athletes and non-athletes alike. While dedicated to providing patients with solutions to recover without surgery, when necessary, Academy Orthopedics performs advanced procedures in arthroscopic surgery, mako robotic joint replacement surgery and minimally invasive fracture repair.
