The annual John Basilone Memorial Parade took place Sunday afternoon in downtown Raritan, home of the World War II hero. The state has named bridges, buildings, parks and roads in honor of John Basilone. The annual John Basilone Memorial Parade recently took place in downtown Raritan, the home of the World War II hero who remains the only Marine to receive the Medal of Honor (the Battle of Guadalcanal) and the Navy Cross (the Battle of Iwo Jima).
