Numerous RWJBarnabas Health facilities were named among the nation’s Best Children’s Hospitals in the recently released U.S. News & World Report rankings.
A health system-wide ranking of #35 (tie) nationally for urology is inclusive of The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital; Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center; Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center; and Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center.
The Bristol-Meyers Squibb Children’s Hospital also ranked #47 (tie) nationally in orthopedics and was one of the top ranked children’s hospitals in NJ and the Mid-Atlantic Region. These rankings demonstrate to parents and caregivers of children with rare or life-threatening illnesses that they can depend on RWJBarnabas Health to provide top-quality pediatric care.
Dr. Fernando Ferrer, the chief pediatric officer for RWJBarnabas Health, said being recognized among the nation’s best children’s hospitals is a tremendous honor.
“It’s a testament to the tireless dedication of our entire pediatric team — physicians, nurses, staff, and researchers — who work seamlessly across our network to deliver exceptional, comprehensive care to children and their families,” he said.
U.S. News, together with RTI International, a North Carolina-based research and consulting firm, collected and analyzed data from 198 eligible children’s hospitals and surveyed thousands of pediatric specialists. Children’s hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care and expert opinion among pediatric specialists.
Dr. Amy Murtha, dean of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, obviously was thrilled by the recognition.
“This year’s ranking is a testament to the team’s expertise and patient-centric commitment to quality and safety, placing them among the nation’s best children’s hospitals,” she said.
“The medical school and hospital have long been partners in employing innovative technologies and techniques to benefit our patients. Congratulations to the medical teams in urology and orthopedics for earning such recognition.”
