Living legend: Bottitta marks 50th anniversary of being member of bar

Genova Burns attorney, still going strong, recently received three-year extension in role as certified arbitrator for U.S. District Court

Joseph Bottitta earned a reputation for his extensive legal knowledge, ethical integrity and steadfast commitment to his clients and colleagues years ago.

In fact, throughout his distinguished career, the Genova Burns attorney has played a vital role in shaping the legal landscape of New Jersey, serving as a mentor, advisor, and trusted counsel to many.

His resume includes leading both the Essex County Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association as their 100th President.

Now it adds something else: 50 years as a member of the bar.

Genova Burns Managing Partner James Burns said the firm is honored to call him a colleague.

“Joe Bottitta’s career is a testament to the highest standards of legal practice,” Burns said. “His dedication to ethics, fairness, and the rule of law has made him a pillar of the legal community, and we are proud to celebrate this milestone with him.”

Bottitta, who began his legal career in 1974 (the year Brendan Bryne began his first term as governor in the state, and Richard Nixon tenured his resignation in the White House), still is going strong.

In fact, he has received a three-year extension on his appointment as a certified arbitrator for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Bottitta’s role as a certified arbitrator has allowed him to facilitate fair and impartial resolutions in complex cases. He said his recent extension as an arbitrator reflects the trust and respect he has earned within the legal community.

“I am grateful for the recognition from the Essex County Bar Association and thankful for the opportunity to continue serving as an arbitrator,” he said. “It has been a privilege to be part of this profession for 50 years, and I look forward to continuing to uphold the principles of justice and fairness.”
