Bob Glenning, integral to the creation of Hackensack Meridian Health and all of its expansion in the past decade — including a school of medicine — is retiring as CFO after 18 years of service.
Glenning helped establish HMH through a series of mergers beginning in 2016.
Today, HMH is a nationally known not-for-profit health care organization with annual revenues in excess of $6 billion, offering a complete range of medical services, innovative research and life-enhancing care.
HMH CEO Bob Garrett said Glenning has been an instrumental part of the organization’s success.
“Our network is in its strong position today because of Bob’s financial acumen and visionary leadership,” he said. “Bob is more than just a CFO; he was integral in forming our network and the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
“Bob is an invaluable partner and cherished friend, and I wish him well in his retirement.”
Glenning said it has been an honor to serve Hackensack Meridian Health – and work with Garrett – for the past 18 years.
“Together, we have had a profound impact on the communities we serve by providing high-quality, compassionate care,” he said.
Glenning said he was especially proud of the work HMH has done to improve the health and well-being of our communities.
“By ensuring our health system is financially strong, we have been able to make health care more accessible by forming New Jersey’s largest health system, creating the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, forging innovative partnerships with organizations like Google, and helping to create opportunities for underserved communities through our network’s unique charity care program, which has provided nearly $1 billion so people can access high-quality healthcare whenever and wherever they need it,” he said.
“All of these extraordinary achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the partnership and visionary leadership of Bob Garrett, our board, generous donors, and the financial services and digital technology services teams that I’ve been privileged to lead.”
Hackensack Meridian health comprises 17 hospitals, which includes three academic medical centers, two children’s hospitals, nine community hospitals, a behavioral health hospital, and two rehabilitation hospitals.
