Valley Medical Group co-director of Urogynecology honored as 2024 Raymond A. Lee Lecturer

Dr. Patrick Culligan, co-director of Urogynecology for Valley Medical Group, has been recognized as the 2024 Raymond A. Lee Lecturer presented by the American Urogynecology Society (AUGS).

The Raymond A. Lee Lectureship — awarded each year during AUGS’ Pelvic Floor Disorders (PFD) Week meeting — honors an individual who has contributed to advancing the surgical field of urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery through mentorship, teaching, and the care of women with pelvic floor disorders.

PFD week is the premier annual scientific meeting of Urogynecologists and pelvic floor allied health professionals in the world.

Recipients of this honor deliver a lecture on the topic of their choosing during the PFD Week meeting. As this year’s lectureship recipient, Culligan was recognized and presented his lecture titled “Oh – How Did You Choose That Field?”

“I am honored to have been selected for this lectureship,” Culligan said. “Dr. Ray Lee was a great man, and I am proud to be delivering a speech in his honor. The title of my talk is essentially the most common question I get when a new friend or acquaintance asks me what I do for a living.”

Culligan holds dual board certification in obstetrics and gynecology and urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. He specializes in the care of women with pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, and fecal incontinence.

Culligan received his medical degree at Mercer University School of Medicine, in Macon, Georgia. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of South Carolina – Greenville, and a fellowship in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery at Northwestern University Medical School in Illinois.
