Private sector employment in November increased by 146,000 jobs and annual pay was up 4.8 percent year-over-year, according to the November ADP® National Employment Report released Wednesday.
“While overall growth for the month was healthy, industry performance was mixed,” Nela Richardson, chief economist, ADP, said. “Manufacturing was the weakest we’ve seen since spring. Financial services and leisure and hospitality were also soft.”
Employment rose by 146,000 jobs in November as strong hiring at large employers led this month’s growth.
When looking at where the jobs surfaced, the service-providing sector saw the biggest increases: Trade/transportation/utilities added 28,000 spots; Financial activities increased by 5,000 jobs; Professional/business services added 18,000 positions; Education/health services went up 50,000 places; Leisure/hospitality saw 15,000 more positions and Other services added 20,000 employees.
Large sized establishments, those with 500+ employees, experienced the largest bump in additions, with 120,000 jobs added.
