Morristown business exec Walsh nominated to serve as ambassador to Ireland

Ed Walsh, the founder and president of the Walsh Company in Morristown, has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland, it was announced Monday.

Trump made the announcement on X.

“Edward is the president of Walsh Company, a very successful nationwide construction and real estate firm,” Trump tweeted. “He is a great philanthropist in his local community.”

Walsh responded on the platform.

“It is a great honor to accept President Trump’s nomination to serve as the next ambassador to Ireland,” he wrote. “I am eager to advance the Trump administration’s agenda while strengthening the enduring trade ties between our nations.

“I look forward to fostering even deeper collaboration that will drive economic growth, create jobs, and enhance prosperity for the United States and the great people of Ireland.”

Walsh’s nomination requires approval by the U.S. Senate.

Founded in 2003, The Walsh Company has developed into a successful firm of over 50 highly accomplished professionals.

Before founding The Walsh Company, Walsh worked as a SVP at Gale & Wentworth, a diversified real estate investment and services firm.

Walsh is actively involved in helping raise funds for several nonprofit organizations in Morris and Somerset Counties in New Jersey. He has been recognized for his philanthropic efforts on behalf of The American Cancer Society, Somerset Hills Learning Institute, Interfaith Food Pantry of Morristown, Employment Horizons, JVS and Family Service of MC.
