Verizon’s Saharko joins board of N.J. Utilities Association

Peter Saharko, senior managing associate general counsel for Verizon, has been appointed to the board of the New Jersey Utilities Association, the board announced.

Saharko, who joined Verizon in 2017, leads the company’s state regulatory team for 42 states. An experienced litigator and regulator, Saharko brings insight and experience from a diverse background in commercial litigation, administrative adjudications and rulemakings, as well as corporate transactions.

NJUA CEO Rich Henning applauded the announcement.

“With his extensive experience in public policymaking and ensuring compliance with rules, Peter is well versed in contract interpretation and intellectual property disputes,” Henning said. “He is a very strong addition to our board.”

Henning feels the NJUA board is position to handle any and all isssues.

“With the addition of Peter Saharko of Verizon, the NJUA Board comprises the leading visionaries of the state’s utility industry,” he said. “Peter brings a wealth of experience in the telecommunications industry and furthers our ability to provide solutions to the broadband industry. He will be a tremendous asset as a member of our leadership team.”

Prior to his current role at Verizon, he led the company’s public sector partner and vendor negotiation team and served as Verizon’s public sector deal attorney. He has led Verizon’s negotiations with public sector entities like New York City, New York State, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Before joining Verizon’s legal team, Saharko worked in the Competition Policy Division of the Federal Communications Commission and was an associate attorney at a Washington D.C. firm. He earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, his master’s from Columbia University, and his law degree from George Washington University.
