The Valley Hospital dedicates Family Care Pavilion in honor of Audrey Meyers

Longtime CEO, who dedicated 45 years of service to Valley, will officially retire at end of January

Valley Health System recently dedicated the Audrey Meyers Family Care Pavilion, named in honor of Meyers, now the CEO Emeritus of the system.

The dedication of the pavilion was made possible by a generous gift from an anonymous donor in support of The Valley Hospital Foundation’s $125 million Serve. Care. Transform. campaign to support construction of The Valley Hospital in Paramus.

To commemorate the dedication, a portrait of Meyers was unveiled at the celebration. The portrait, which hangs in the first-floor lobby of the Paramus hospital, was a generous gift from Valley Health System’s Board of Trustees.

“I am so thankful for this amazing honor,” Meyers, the longtime leader, said. “To know that my name will be on the building where so many families in our community will receive care, is a lasting tribute for which I am profoundly grateful. I thank Valley’s anonymous donor for making this possible and want all to know that I am humbled by this incredible gesture.”

The Family Care Pavilion is home to the Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Postpartum, and Pediatric units at The Valley Hospital. This pavilion’s staff cares for thousands of members of families each year and will assist parents to welcome almost 4,000 babies this year.

Robert Brenner, who succeeded Meyers as CEO, said the honor was well deserved.

“Audrey’s extraordinary contributions to Valley are well known, but what truly defines her legacy is her unwavering commitment to the community and, especially, to families,” he said at the dedication event. “Having had the privilege of working closely with Audrey for many years, I can say without hesitation that no one is more deserving of this recognition.”

Meyers used the momentous occasion to announce that she will retire at the end of January 2025.

During her 45-year career with Valley, she has held virtually every key executive leadership position in strategic planning, management, operations, and governance. She served as both the President and CEO of The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System for more than two decades.

Under Meyers’ leadership, Valley has thrived as a highly successful standalone hospital system in the country through the development of key strategic relationships with leading national healthcare systems; fostering a culture of service, performance, and high reliability; and driving a rigorous systemwide approach to margin enhancement through growth and cost control. She also oversaw a busy home care agency, and an award-winning medical group of close to 500 physicians and advanced practice providers across 50 specialties and multiple locations.

Capping her long and distinguished career, Myers led Valley through the successful planning, design, financing, and building of Valley’s new campus and state-of-the-art hospital in Paramus, which opened its door to serve the community on April 14.

Meyers is the recipient of the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Jersey Hospital Association and is included as one of the top leaders on numerous influencer lists by ROI-NJ.
