Hilary Chebra has been promoted to the role of director of government affairs for the Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey, effective immediately, the organization announced.
In this elevated role, Chebra will continue to serve as the CCSNJ’s primary lobbyist in Trenton and is responsible for the planning and execution of the CCSNJ’s policy-related events, as well as public policy research reports focused on the South Jersey business community. Chebra will continue to report to CEO Christina Renna.
Renna applauded the announcement.
“Throughout her tenure at the CCSNJ, Hilary has taken her vast public sector experience and applied it successfully to assist our members, while never missing an opportunity to embrace and advocate for the issues of import to South Jersey’s private sector,” she said. “This promotion is beyond well-deserved, and we are proud to have Hilary serving in a more prominent policy role with the CCSNJ.”
Chebra said she is looking forward to the role.
“This is an incredible opportunity to continue to lead meaningful advocacy efforts, strengthen connections between our business community and government, and champion policies that drive growth and prosperity across the region,” she said. “I am confident in the CCSNJ’s ability to make a lasting impact and look forward to working with our members to ensure the South Jersey region remains a vibrant place to live, work, and do business.”
Chebra holds a B.S. in political science, with a concentration in international studies, from Rowan University.
Prior to joining the CCSNJ in 2020, Chebra served as the cabinet liaison in the office of Gov. Phil Murphy, as well as chief of staff to State Sen. Troy Singleton (D-Moorestown).
CCSNJ, the largest business organization in South Jersey, represents the seven counties of Southern N.J., greater Philadelphia and Northern Delaware with more than 1,200 member companies.
