East Brunswick-based accounting firm Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C. said it added three new Principals at the start of the year: Chris Saray, Karolis Matulis and Timothy Torres.
Saray, Matulis and Torres bring a diverse blend of technical expertise and leadership capabilities to the team. As principals, they will continue to provide high-quality service to their clients and strengthen WilkinGuttenplan with their dedication to the firm’s vision of the future.
Meet the new team:Â
Saray began his career at the firm in 2012 and specializes in audit, accounting, and tax services for condominiums and cooperative corporations. He also assists co-ops, condominiums, homeowner associations, and the real estate industry in New York City in navigating complex issues. He interned with the firm during college before joining WilkinGuttenplan full-time. Chris earned his Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University. He is a current member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Matulis has been with the firm since 2013 and leads its Innovation Council. He is also chair of the NJCPA Emerging Technology Group. He specializes in optimizing tax efficiency, structuring, and valuations to help clients navigate complex transactions, maximize value, and minimize tax burdens. A recognized leader in emerging technologies, he develops data analytics solutions, implements process automation, and advises on digital assets. His holistic approach and innovative problem-solving make him a trusted advisor across diverse business challenges. Matulis graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from The College of New Jersey. He is a current member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts.
Torres has been with the firm since 2015 and is a key contributor to the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences industry practice group. He specializes in income tax accounting and compliance for multi-state and multinational corporations, focusing on crafting and implementing tax-efficient structures and plans. Additionally, Tim partners with the entrepreneurs of closely held businesses to establish strong financial foundations rooted in sound tax planning. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from Rider University. Tim is a current member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
