Fairfield-based Kearny Bank recently announced that the internal team dedicated to protecting sensitive data has promoted two of its cybersecurity professionals to the title 2nd Vice President / Information Security Officer.
With expanded responsibilities related to developing, implementing, and monitoring safeguards for sensitive data – along with establishment of relevant internal policies and safety awareness; countering cyber-intrusions; and regulatory compliance – the recently elevated members of Kearny Bank’s Information Security team are:
East Hanover resident Jon Rusek – who’s specific focus is “cyber risk” – is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (ISC2). Rusek joined Kearny Bank in 2022 and was most recently a VP focused on cyber defense risk and advisory services. He’s a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he earned a bachelor’s in technical business management and a master’s in IT security and administration.
Raymund Gandionco, whose point of emphasis is “security,” has more than two decades of information security and technology experience on Wall Street and in the health insurance industry. A Belleville resident, Gandionco has been with Kearny Bank since 2020, most recently as a VP / Information Security Manager. He holds a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of San Carlos in the Philippines.
“The volume and severity of online threats is continuously expanding, so our experts in this sector are playing an absolutely essential role,” Tim Swansson, executive vice president/chief technology and innovation officer said. “Jon and Raymund both have extensive, varied cybersecurity backgrounds and I’m looking forward to both of them taking on expanded responsibilities related to identifying and mitigating risks.”
