Gov. Phil Murphy will be a keynote speaker at this year’s Walk to Washington train trip. And it appears he’ll be talking to a really big crowd.
The event (set for Feb. 6-7) is being held for the 84th time but the first time since 2020. Its return has had a great response from the business and political community. Nearly 900 tickets already have been sold.
When the train goers reach D.C., they’ll head to a new hotel (the Omni Shoreham) and experience a new Walk to Washington format – one that is more streamlined.
The traditional dinner is being replaced by a networking reception. It is here that Murphy will deliver his remarks. Also scheduled to speak are New Jersey’s two senators, Cory Booker and Andy Kim, and Congressman Chris Smith, the dean of the state’s Congressional Delegation.
On Feb. 7, the event will feature a breakfast panel discussion featuring the leading gubernatorial candidates.
Chamber CEO Tom Bracken is excited.
“The Walk features the kind of super-networking that helps businesses grow,” he said. “That is why we have been doing it for 84 years. It’s still New Jersey’s biggest and most unique business event.”
Here’ s a look at what’s new for the 2025 Walk to Washington.
New hotel: The event is being held at the historic and luxurious Omni Shoreham Hotel.
New format: The sit-down dinner is being replaced by a lively and extended dinner-and-cocktail reception with a streamlined program honoring New Jersey’s Congressional delegation. Guests will enjoy food, drinks and desserts – and get more time for valuable business networking.
The train schedule: The Chamber train will pick up passengers at Penn Station in Newark. The train then makes stops in Iselin (Metropark), New Brunswick, Trenton, Philadelphia and Wilmington before heading into Washington.
