Paramus-based Valley Medical Group, an entity of Valley Health System, has added urology care to its expanding roster of primary care and specialty medical services in northern New Jersey.
VMG’s urology practice is located at 1200 East Ridgewood Ave., Suite 205, in Ridgewood.
VMG’s board-certified urologists provide comprehensive medical and surgical services for men and women with diseases and disorders of the urinary system and for men with reproductive health issues. They also emphasize screenings and wellness efforts to prevent urologic cancers and to detect them early, when these cancers are most treatable.
“With a focus on state-of-the-art, compassionate urologic medical and surgical care and the multidisciplinary treatment of patients with urologic cancers, we provide the latest advances in diagnostics, treatment, continuing care, and disease surveillance,” Dr. David Ahlborn said.
In addition to urologic cancers of the bladder, kidneys, prostate, testis, ureters, and penis, VMG’s urologists also diagnose and treat benign disorders, including kidney stones, enlarged prostate, urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, male infertility, genitourinary syndrome of menopause, and hormonal issues related to low levels of estrogen and testosterone. Wellness care includes cancer screenings, disease prevention, and vasectomies.
Medical Director Dr. Nick Liu says that the NanoKnife® is a “game-changer” in treating prostate cancer.
“Prostate cancer is the only cancer we currently treat by removing the entire organ, which may not be necessary if the cancer is detected early,” Liu said. “Through the use of the NanoKnife®, we can treat the cancer precisely, preserve the healthy areas of the prostate, and limit post-operative complications of incontinence and erectile dysfunction.”
