Georgian Court University announced Eugene Cornacchia as its interim president, effective Feb. 6. With decades of higher education experience, Cornacchia will guide the university through its transition following President Joseph Marbach’s decision to retire.
Cornacchia’s interim appointment will continue until June 30, 2026.
Cornacchia served as president of Saint Peter’s University from 2007 until his retirement in June 2024, making him the longest-serving president in the institution’s history.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Cornacchia to Georgian Court University,” Sister Michele Aronica, chair of the Board of Trustees, said. “His experience, leadership acumen, commitment to higher education and track record of success make him the ideal choice to guide Georgian Court at this important time in our history. We are grateful to the GCU community for their engagement throughout this search process.”
Cornacchia’s appointment follows a search process led by the university’s Board of Trustees working with The RegistryHE, a ZRG company, the nation’s leader in interim placements in higher education.
