Mountain Creek Resort giving away free lift tickets on Feb. 12

“Four score and seven years ago…”, most of us know that much, but if you can recite the entire Gettysburg Address, down to the word — you can nab yourself a free lift ticket.

On Feb. 12, Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon will honor President Abraham Lincoln’s 216th birthday by inviting guests to recite the Gettysburg Address. Anyone who does so in its entirety will be issued a free lift ticket, valid for that day only, to ski the resort’s four mountains and 167 acres of winter trails.

The tradition, popular with history buffs, goes back about 20 years or more years; and a Mountain Creek spokesman said they usually have about 20 or more participants, with 5 to 10 typically completing it. Last year, five individuals successfully completed the promotion.

“We’re excited to once again celebrate Lincoln’s birthday with our guests,” Jackie Cerra, resort marketing blazer at Mountain Creek Resort said. “This is a perfect mix of history and fun on the slopes. We look forward to welcoming families for some exceptional skiing and snowboarding this President’s Day weekend.”
