Cooper proud to be only hospital system on Forbes list of America’s Best Large Employers

Nine health Care-focused companies in N.J. make list of 701 companies

Cooper University Health Care was one of nine health care-focused organizations — but the only hospital — to be named featured on the America’s Best Large Employers ranking by Forbes.

Cooper placed No. 193 overall.

The ranking was not a surprise. For the past four years, Cooper has earned a place on Forbes’ list of Best in State Employers in New Jersey.

Cooper officials feel the national ranking reinforces the organization’s reputation as a leader in workplace excellence, saying it is a significant milestone, underscoring Cooper’s continued dedication to creating a supportive environment for its employees.

According to Forbes, the criteria for inclusion in this ranking is more stringent than the Best-In-State award, with organizations being scored against others across the entire U.S., not just by state.

“Being named one of Forbes’ top 200 employers in the U.S. for 2025 is an extraordinary honor and a testament to the dedication and excellence of our Cooper team members,” Cooper Chairman George Norcross III said.

“Their passion for delivering compassionate care and advancing health care innovation is what drives us forward and keeps us at the forefront of the industry. As a leading health care organization in the region, Cooper remains committed to growing and evolving to meet the needs of the communities we serve, expanding access to high-quality care, and investing in the latest medical advancements to ensure we continue setting the standard for health care excellence.”

Other health care-focused companies on the list include:

No. 80: Novo Nordisk

No. 90: Johnson & Johnson

No. 97: Merck

No. 132: Horizon BC/BS

No. 396 Bayer

No. 536 Sanofi

No. 624 Novartis

No. 682 Becton Dickinson

The annual rankings were based primarily on survey responses from more than 217,000 employees working at companies within the U.S. that employ more than 1,000 people. The organizations were stratified so that companies with 1,000 to 5,000 employees were deemed midsize, while companies with more than 5,000 employees were considered large employers.

Forbes determined 01 large companies nationally deserved recognition.
