What They Say: Virtua Health is the leader in cardiovascular care in South Jersey and one of the largest providers of cardiac services in the region. Recognized by U.S. News & World Report and other leading organizations, Virtua’s highly trained cardiovascular clinicians offer comprehensive care in clinical cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, electrophysiology, heart failure, interventional cardiology, structural heart and vascular medicine.
Serving patients primarily in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties, Virtua provides access to the most advanced and state-of-the-art procedures and treatments for cardiovascular disease through its research and academic partnerships. Virtua also has a tertiary center of excellence at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Virtua was the first in New Jersey to perform a procedure called renal denervation to help people with uncontrolled high blood pressure. Renal denervation is clinically proven to help reduce high blood pressure and offers new hope to individuals whose previous interventions did not have the desired result.
Virtua Health has also added two innovative, top-quality cardiovascular imaging systems at its facility in Moorestown,: the Omni Legend digital PET/CT — the first in the state — and the Revolution Apex platform, a CT system capable of 1-beat cardiac imaging.
Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital recently became credentialed as a Ventricular Assist Device facility. LVAD implantation is an integral component of Virtua’s Advanced Heart Failure Center, which serves as a hub for advanced heart failure care and an additional outpatient site. This facility joins Virtua’s heart failure centers in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties.
Virtua’s electrophysiology team participated in a global trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of a novel, small-diameter defibrillation device. The results were presented at the 2024 Heart Rhythm Society conference and published in the May 2024 issue of Heart Rhythm.
