Provident Bank recently presented the St. Joseph’s Health Foundation with a grant for $25,000 to benefit St. Joseph’s Pediatric Dentistry Division.
The funds will be used to purchase equipment used by doctors and residents to prevent, diagnose, and treat a variety of dental conditions affecting underserved children in Paterson.
St. Joseph’s Health provides a dental home for children from Paterson and the surrounding communities.
Comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pediatric oral healthcare is provided in a family-centered environment – with a goal of providing children with a positive dental experience and to encourage healthy dental habits to last a lifetime.
Services at the center include cleanings and examinations, sealants, fillings, tooth extractions, space maintainers, interceptive orthodontic appliances and patient/parent education, including dietary counseling.
Outpatient procedures and emergency services are available, too.
Officials at St. Joseph’s note that the staff is well equipped to provide services to pediatric patients with special health care needs. Children with cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial issues who receive team care at the Regional Craniofacial Center may access comprehensive dental treatment at their facilities.
