The historic Stockton Inn has significantly improved its energy efficiency through Elizabethtown Gas’ Direct Install Program for businesses. The initiative, designed to help commercial properties reduce energy costs, led to major upgrades at the inn, including the installation of air conditioner rooftop units with gas heat, smart thermostats, dual enthalpy economizers, electronic fuel use economizers, and demand control ventilation.
As a result, the Stockton Inn is achieving annual savings of 2,835 therms of natural gas and 11,415 kWh of electricity. The total project cost was $158,510, with $126,808 covered through incentives from Elizabethtown Gas. The remaining $31,702 was financed through the company’s On-Bill Repayment Program, offering a five-year, interest-free payment plan.
A fixture in the Stockton community for more than 300 years, the Inn reopened in 2024 after extensive renovations that preserved its historic charm while introducing modern amenities, including a tavern and an upscale Italian restaurant.
Elizabethtown Gas, a subsidiary of South Jersey Industries (SJI), provides natural gas to businesses and residences across New Jersey, supporting energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives.
