WGL Energy Services, Inc. (“WGL Energy”), a leading retail supplier of electricity, natural gas, and renewable energy solutions, has announced its expansion into New Jersey—marking a significant step in its growth across the Mid-Atlantic region.
With over 25 years of industry experience, the company aims to provide businesses and, eventually, residential customers with greater energy choice, competitive pricing, and sustainable solutions.
Strategic Expansion in a Key Market
For the first phase of its New Jersey operations, WGL Energy will focus on serving large commercial and industrial customers, leveraging its reputation for reliability and customer-centric service. The company has already secured regulatory approvals and utility qualifications to operate across several key service areas, including:
- PSE&G (Electric & Gas) – Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Elizabeth, Trenton
- JCP&L (Electric) – Burlington, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex
- Atlantic City Electric (Electric) – Atlantic City, Burlington, Cape May, Pleasantville, Linwood
Additional utility service areas are expected to be finalized soon.
Bringing Choice, Flexibility and Sustainability
WGL Energy’s entry into New Jersey comes at a time when businesses and consumers are seeking reliable energy providers to navigate an evolving marketplace. Beyond traditional electricity and natural gas, the company offers environmentally friendly options such as Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and carbon offsets, helping customers meet sustainability goals in line with New Jersey’s ambitious clean energy policies.
“New Jersey represents an exciting frontier for WGL Energy with its diverse economy and growing demand for energy choice,” said Mike McGinn, vice president of sales and marketing. “We are eager to work with commercial, industrial, and government customers in the Garden State and look forward to expanding our offerings to residential customers in the near future.”
Expanding Regional Reach
With this move, WGL Energy now operates in six states—Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia—along with Washington, D.C. The expansion underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering tailored energy solutions that align with customers’ operational needs, budget considerations, and environmental commitments.
