FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ Host Committee ignites excitement with NYNJ Sonic Takeover

The FIFA New York New Jersey Host Committee is launching the NYNJ Sonic ID, a region-wide sound takeover that brings the excitement of FIFA World Cup 2026™ to life.

As the city and region that never sleeps, sound is ingrained in daily life—whether it’s the rush of a subway, the cheers of a packed stadium, ocean waves hitting the shoreline from the boardwalk, or the music that defines our streets. The NYNJ Sonic ID taps into this energy, echoing through airports, transit hubs, sporting events, shopping destinations, radio, and digital platforms, immersing fans in the spirit of the tournament long before the first match kicks off.

“FIFA World Cup 2026 is more than a tournament; it’s a cultural moment that starts long before the first match,” said Alex Lasry, CEO of the NYNJ Host Committee. “As the world turns its eyes to New York and New Jersey as hosts of 8 games including the final, we’re making sure they don’t just see it and feel it—they hear it and experience it everywhere.”

“Sound creates an instant emotional connection,” said Bettina Garibaldi, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of the NYNJ Host Committee. “By integrating the NYNJ Sonic ID into iconic venues, media, and daily life, we’re amplifying the energy of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ across the region. This is just the beginning of how we’re bringing the excitement of the tournament to life—uniting fans from now until kickoff and beyond.

Region-wide Sound Takeover

The NYNJ Sonic ID will be featured at major iconic and highly visited locations, including:

  • Airports and Transit Hubs: Newark, JFK and La Guardia, the PATH, and at the NY Waterway Port Imperial and Midtown Terminals.
  • Sporting Event: At the New York Knicks vs Golden State Warriors game on March 4 at Madison Square Garden, featuring a GardenVision (jumbotron) call-out with NJ-natives US Men’s National Soccer Team’s legends, Tab Ramos and John Harkes, courtside.
  • Retail & Entertainment: At the American Dream entertainment, retail and dining destination, at the Westfield Garden State Plaza upscale shopping mall, and at the Queens Center urban shopping mall, bringing FIFA World Cup 2026™ to high-traffic destinations.
  • Media & Music Platforms: Fans can experience the NYNJ Sonic ID across iHeartRadio stations throughout the region, including Z100, 103.5 KTU, Power 105.1, 106.7 Lite FM, Q104.3, and 710 WOR, ensuring widespread reach. It will also be available on Spotify and Apple Music for streaming anytime, anywhere.

“Creating the NYNJ Sonic ID has been an incredibly meaningful project for us,” said Take A Daytrip. “New York and New Jersey have played a huge role in shaping who we are as artists, and we wanted to capture that energy in a way that speaks to the passion and spirit of the World Cup. It’s an honor to help bring this global moment to life through sound and to be part of an experience that fans will carry with them long after the tournament ends.”

How to Experience the NYNJ Sonic ID

Fans can stream, download and enjoy the NYNJ Sonic ID via the FIFA Sound channel on Spotify, Apple Music, and more, and are encouraged to share their experiences hearing the Sonic ID on social media using #NYNJSonicIDTakeover.
