National construction firm JT Magen has completed the new global headquarters for investment management firm Lord, Abbett & Co. at 30 Hudson Street in Jersey City. The 178,107-square-foot space spans five floors and was designed to enhance collaboration, employee well-being, and client engagement.
JT Magen served as construction manager, overseeing budgeting, scheduling, material procurement, subcontractor coordination, and final project handover. HLW led the architectural and interior design, while AMA Group provided MEP engineering services.
Lord, Abbett & Co. relocated from its previous 239,000-square-foot headquarters at 90 Hudson Street, where it had operated for more than 20 years. The firm sought a modern, right-sized space with increased natural light, improved collaborative areas, and premium amenities.
A Workplace Designed for the Future
The new headquarters reflects a growing trend in financial services—moving away from traditional office layouts in favor of open and flexible workspaces.
“Lord, Abbett & Co.’s new office illustrates the continued movement of financial firms toward dynamic, amenity-rich workplaces,” said Jay Rimatzki, senior project manager at JT Magen. “This space is designed to foster collaboration and adaptability, aligning with the evolving needs of today’s workforce.”
The headquarters features a mix of executive offices, open workspaces, and multipurpose conference rooms. Employees have access to a production studio for digital content creation, an auditorium, a game room, a fitness lounge, and training rooms.
A standout feature is The Exchange, a double-height space on the 40th floor designed as the central amenity hub. It includes a commercial kitchen, event areas, an audio/visual booth, and a café with a barista bar and grab-and-go options. A dramatic feature staircase, clad in stone, connects the upper three floors, while millwork paneling and unique wallcoverings add a sophisticated design touch throughout the space.
