Bridging the Gap: A healthy partnership

CCM and Morristown Medical Center team to support nursing and data science programs

County College of Morris has found tremendous success in collaborating and partnering with businesses and organizations throughout Morris County and the region. As CCM strives to change lives and strengthen communities, listening and working with partners across many industries and organizations is essential to understanding the needs of employers and individuals’ career paths.

One such partner is Atlantic Health System, and its flagship hospital Morristown Medical Center. Atlantic Health System serves in an advisory role for curriculum and curriculum changes to CCM programs within the health care industry. Additionally, CCM is grateful for Atlantic Heath System’s generous financial support of the college’s Paragano Family Foundation Healthcare Simulation Center.

Morristown Medical Center serves as a critical clinical site for all of CCM’s Health programs and participates in partnership with the Center for Workforce Development in hiring pharmacy technician completers of the Pharm Tech workforce development program. In addition to the health care partnership, a member of the Morristown Data Science Team provides support and feedback on the development of CCM’s Data Science degree and certificate programs.

This growing partnership benefits students with career opportunities and helps fulfill the need Morristown Medical Center has for highly educated and skilled employees. This collaboration benefits more than 1,200 students enrolled in health care programs at the college at a time when health care providers need employees.

County College of Morris nursing graduates have achieved national recognition, ranking No.1 in the U.S. The associate’s degree program has also earned accolades for outstanding performance on the National Council Licensure Examination. Every college nursing graduate passed the exam on their first attempt, demonstrating the college’s commitment to excellence in health care education.

As County College of Morris looks forward, the impact of this partnership will continue to strengthen the college, its students, and the community. The college appreciates Morristown Medical Center’s participation on campus through employer job fairs and providing expert speakers from the health care field to lecture students.

The college’s Center for Health Professions, an 80,000-square-foot building dedicated to educating students in a wide variety of health-related programs, is currently under construction.  With support from New Jersey’s Legislature and Morris County Board of County Commissioners, as well as industry partners such as Delta Dental, Atlantic Health Systems, and many others, expanding programs and opportunities to help fill the health care needs for providers and patients in Morris County, will result in a healthier community.
