Retail tenants announced for Legacy Place in East Brunswick

Restaurant, salon and learning center add to lifestyle conveniences at Garden Communities’ mixed-use development

Garden Communities has announced the first three retail tenants for its mixed-use Legacy Place in East Brunswick.

Michael Gartenberg, director of Garden Commercial, arranged all three leases on behalf of property ownership. The businesses will occupy the ground floor of One Legacy Place, the development’s signature mid-rise apartment building.

“These desirable tenants are the foundation for what will be a carefully curated retail mix at Legacy Place – one intended to elevate the live-play lifestyle here and serve the local community,” Gartenberg said. “We continue to see active interest from a range of categories and look forward to announcing additional leases in the coming months.”

Italian restaurant Bonesse’s Tomato Apizza is a new business venture from the same restaurateur behind Maria’s Pizza in Milltown and Spotswood. The 3,010-square-foot eatery will open this spring and offer a hybrid of New Haven- and Trenton-style pizza, along with ample seating and a private events room.

H2O Henna’s Hues Organic committed to 1,700 square feet at Legacy Place. The locally owned salon will offer high-end manicures/pedicures and waxing services using organic products. The business’ experienced operator previously owned iNailedit.

Math and reading enrichment program Kumon leased 1,360 square feet for its newest location and is set to open imminently at the property. Serving students from preschool through high school, Kumon’s individualized approach is designed to accelerate the development of math and reading skills.

The dining and service providers add to the wide range of lifestyle amenities for residents of the community’s 520 luxury rental apartments and townhomes, while introducing new conveniences for the surrounding neighborhood.

Just one retail space remains available at One Legacy Place. Its sister building, Two Legacy Place, is currently under development and will include 9,000 square feet of additional retail leasing opportunities.
