Vantage Commercial, a Cherry Hill-based commercial real estate firm, has successfully brokered the sale of 9219 Atlantic Ave. in Margate City, N.J. The property, located in one of the state’s most desirable shore communities, has been acquired by the Save Lucy Committee Inc., which plans to transform the site into a new visitor center and retail shop for Lucy the Elephant.
Lucy the Elephant, a nationally recognized landmark, attracts more than 40,000 visitors annually. The Save Lucy Committee aims to enhance the visitor experience by offering educational exhibits, souvenirs, and expanded engagement with the history of the six-story elephant structure, which has been a staple of the Jersey Shore since 1881.
Vantage Commercial’s Ken Richardson, vice president/partner, and Emily Stein, managing director, represented both the buyer and seller in the transaction. The deal was completed within five months of the listing, aligning with the off-season for the shore community.
“This transaction is a win for both parties and the Margate community,” Richardson said. “The Save Lucy Committee’s vision for the property will not only strengthen Lucy’s legacy but also boost tourism and economic activity in the area.”
The newly acquired site, situated on Atlantic Avenue, offers high visibility and accessibility—key factors for driving foot traffic to the new visitor center. The sale reflects the ongoing demand for commercial properties in South Jersey’s shore communities and highlights Vantage Commercial’s role in facilitating high-impact real estate deals.
