Hudson Regional wins state approval to take over Bayonne Medical Center

The New Jersey Department of Health has approved Hudson Regional Hospital’s Certificate of Need application, allowing it to take full ownership and operation of Bayonne Medical Center.

Hudson Regional has owned the hospital property since July 2020 and was recently appointed interim operator during CarePoint Health’s bankruptcy proceedings. The approval resolves long-standing conflicts between the hospital’s ownership and its operations.

“Bayonne Medical Center is a critical asset for the local community, and we are beyond gratified that its future is secured,” said Yan Moshe, chairman of Hudson Regional Hospital. “In anticipation of this decision, we have invested millions to improve the facility and restore services.”

Hudson County Executive Craig Guy welcomed the decision, expressing confidence in the hospital’s new leadership.

“I am pleased to see Governor Murphy approve the transfer of ownership to Hudson Regional Hospital,” Guy said. “This change will ensure Bayonne Medical Center continues providing quality healthcare services to Hudson County residents.”
