Jefferson Health in New Jersey has announced its newly elected medical staff officers, who will serve two-year terms.
Dr. Gopika Banker has been named medical staff president. A board-certified nephrologist, she is a member of Nephrology & Hypertension Associates of New Jersey in Voorhees. Banker, a graduate of Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, completed her internship, residency and nephrology fellowship in 2010. She serves as acute dialysis medical director and section head for nephrology at Jefferson Health – New Jersey. She is also an active member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Society of Nephrology.
Dr. Gerardo Varallo will serve as medical staff vice president. A fellowship-trained, board-certified nephrologist, he is medical director of the Fresenius Dialysis Center in Sewell. He also chairs the Jefferson Health New Jersey Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, and serves as program director of the Nephrology Fellowship at Jefferson Health in New Jersey.
Dr. Siddharth Bhimani has been appointed medical staff treasurer. He is the medical director of the Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospitalist Program and has been a member of Jefferson Health’s medical staff since 2016. Board-certified in internal medicine, Bhimani leads the Patient Experience SOAR OpEx team and serves on multiple committees, including Jefferson Physician & Advanced Practice Provider Wellness (JPAW), Jefferson New Jersey Clinician Affairs and the Quality Council. He is a graduate of Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, where he also completed his residency.
Jefferson Health in New Jersey operates three acute care hospitals in Cherry Hill, Stratford and Washington Township, as well as outpatient centers and specialty care facilities throughout the region.
