Valley Health System in Paramus, New Jersey, experienced a period of incredible growth and expansion in 2024. The system – comprising of The Valley Hospital; Valley Home Care, a home care and hospice agency serving Bergen and Passaic counties; and Valley Medical Group, a 328-member physician group providing care in a wide range of medical specialties in more than 54 locations – opened a new, state-of-the-art hospital facility in Paramus on Sunday, April 14, 2024. The hospital serves as the heart of the Valley Health System – Paramus Campus, a 40-acre health and wellness destination that offers inpatient care, outpatient procedures, cancer care, and the ability to see Valley’s doctors in one central location.
The former hospital campus in Ridgewood, New Jersey, now serves as a thriving outpatient campus.
In addition to opening the new hospital last year, Valley introduced a graduate medical education (GME) program in partnership with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The GME program consists of two residency programs in the specialties of internal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology. In summer 2024, Valley welcomed 15 residents into the inaugural classes of these programs.
After reflecting on this prior monumental year, Robert Brenner, MD, MMM, FACHE, President and CEO of Valley Health System, shares what is to come for Valley in 2025.
Will Valley continue to expand this year?
Valley will continue to expand its footprint this year through the introduction of even more medical programs and services. We are in the process of developing our 55,000-square-foot facility, located at 400 Market Street in Montvale, which is scheduled to open later this year. Valley’s musculoskeletal center, which will be located on the third floor of this facility, is designed to create a central location for the care of musculoskeletal disorders. Additional services available at the center will include integrative medicine, inclusive of chiropractic care, acupuncture, and therapeutic massage; rheumatology; podiatry; physical medicine and rehabilitation; sports medicine; diagnostic imaging; and physical therapy.
Our teams are also working to transform our Valley Health System – Ridgewood Campus through the addition of innovative programs and services. The transformation of this campus will include new ambulatory care services, including a center for sleep medicine, rehabilitation medicine, and Valley Medical Group physician practices. Our goal is to create a campus for patients to receive a wide variety of outpatient services.
As Valley continues to grow to better serve our community, we remain devoted to providing our patients and their loved ones with high-quality, compassionate care.
What does 2025 hold for Graduate Medical Education at The Valley Hospital?
Training the next generation of physicians remains a continued priority for us. We have expanded our GME program to now include education and training for the next generation of surgeons. Our new surgical residency program, which was accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in April 2024, will matriculate the first class of residents in the summer of 2025. We look forward to welcoming our general surgery residents, as well as the second class of internal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology residents this year.
Through our continued educational partnership with Mount Sinai, we are in the planning process of adding fellowships to our roster of GME services. We are excited to take this next step and continue to develop a robust academic medical center at The Valley Hospital.
What are the guiding values leading you toward success this year?

This care involves leading-edge medical treatments paired with the compassion for which Valley is known. As we look to our future success as an organization, driving all our efforts is our pledge to be both the healthcare system of choice and the employer of choice for all in our community.
While the future will continue to present challenges for healthcare, I am confident that we will be successful as an organization because of our commitment to serving our patients, the community, and our staff.
